Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) provide hands-on health care to patients by performing specific medical procedures, such as phlebotomy, administering injections, measuring vital signs, performing electrocardiography (ECG), and other needs.
Becoming a Patient Care Technician is a great career path for someone that wants to enter the medical and healthcare fields in the shortest time possible, and who would rather focus more on performing hands-on work, rather than formal book learning.
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) Training Certification Program at Acupuncture and Massage College in Miami, FL, is designed to prepare our students to become successful Certified Patient Care Technicians. Students that complete the PCT program are eligible to take 5 different Healthcare Certification Exams!
Students will be trained to work in different aspects of patient care, including Phlebotomy, Diagnostic Testing, Home Healthcare, and more. Additionally, we're the only Patient Care Technician school in Miami that offers a Renal (Kidney) Dialysis Technician Certification care as part of its Patient Care Technician Training Certification Program.
Because needs vary between different patients and work environments, it is vital for Patient Care Technicians to have a diverse range of health care knowledge. That's why the Patient Care Technician Program at Acupuncture and Massage College offers students the opportunity to receive five occupational certifications.

As a Certified Patient Care Technician, you’ll be ready to provide hands-on assistance to treat patients and work alongside other healthcare professionals in a variety of environments.
You will be trained to perform specific medical procedures, including Measuring Vital Signs (heart pulse, body temperature, respiration rate, and blood pressure), Administering Injections, providing basic patient care, and more.
Since these skills are needed in many places, there are a variety of opportunities available to you. Earning your CPCT can help you launch a career in the healthcare path you choose.
Our Patient Care Technician program graduates are eligible to become certified as Phlebotomy Technicians. Phlebotomy Techs are responsible for collecting blood from patients to help diagnose health conditions and illnesses. Students will learn to properly collect blood, monitor patient reactions to blood drawing, and prepare lab equipment.
Successful graduates of our PCT training program will be trained as Home Health Aides (HHAs). Home Health Aides are similar to nursing assistants, in that they perform basic patient care tasks, such as feeding, clothing, and bathing patients. However, because they usually work in the homes of their patients, HHAs are often required to provide more technical healthcare services in unsupervised settings, such as taking vital signs, administrating daily medication, changing bandages, and helping with medical equipment.
Acupuncture and Massage College is the only college in Miami that offers Kidney Dialysis Care training as part of its Patient Care Technician Program. Kidney Dialysis is the process of removing excess water, solutes, and toxins from the blood in people whose kidneys can no longer perform these functions naturally.
Students will be trained to assist in kidney dialysis treatments, including inserting dialysis tubing and central venous catheters. This additional training is offered to make our give our graduates additional desirable skill sets and ultimately, more employable.
An electrocardiogram — abbreviated as EKG or ECG — is a test that measures the electrical activity of the heartbeat using a specialized machine through small electrode patches attached to the body. As a part of our program, you’ll receive important hands-on training that employers require to administer EKGs, as well as Holter monitoring, and stress testing.
