Recognized by physical therapists, chiropractors and orthopedists, the Pilates Method of body conditioning can be successfully integrated into rehabilitative exercise and physical therapy programs designed to speed the recovery of soft tissue injuries.
The Pilates Method is a series of more than 500 specifically designed, low-impact, controlled movements engaging the body and mind. Emphasizing correct breathing and body alignment, the Pilates Method uses the abdomen, lower back and buttocks as the “powerhouse,” enabling the rest of the body to move freely.
Pilates movements use both the mat and unique pieces of exercise apparatus which strengthen and lengthen the body without adding bulk. Pilates brings the body into its proper balance and aids in injury prevention.
