AMC Mission Statement and Educational Objectives

The mission of the Acupuncture & Massage College (AMC) is to provide our students with a college of natural healing. AMC is committed to maintaining high standards of education that emphasize principles of ethical behavior. AMC also strives to improve the quality of healthcare in our community by providing a low cost Community Intern Clinic.

Graduates of the Acupuncture and Massage College’s Master of Oriental Medicine Degree program will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate competency in the theories and practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine to include Acupuncture, Moxibustion, Herbal Medicine and Asian Bodywork.
  2. Demonstrate competent clinical judgment and assess appropriate treatment plans.
  3. Identify when to make appropriate referrals.
  4. Demonstrate appropriate professional conduct in their relationship with patients.
  5. Pass AMC’s comprehensive exams and their National/State Licensing Exams.
  6. Become entry level Oriental Medicine Practitioners.

Graduates of the Acupuncture and Massage College’s Massage Therapy program will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate competency in the theory of Massage Therapy to include Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathology.
  2. Demonstrate competency in hands-on skills to include Shiatsu, Medical Massage and Swedish Massage.
  3. Identify and assess contraindications to Massage Therapy.
  4. Demonstrate appropriate professional conduct in their relationship with patients.
  5. Pass AMC’s comprehensive exams and their National/State Licensing Exam.
  6. Become entry level Massage Therapists with a specialty in Shiatsu.

Graduates of Acupuncture and Massage College’s Associate of Arts in Health Science program will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate competency in the theory of Massage Therapy to include Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathology.
  2. Demonstrate competency in hands-on skills to include Shiatsu, Medical Massage, Swedish Massage and Physical Assessment and Treatment Techniques.
  3. Identify and assess contraindications to Massage Therapy.
  4. Demonstrate appropriate professional conduct in their relationship with patients.
  5. Think critically and communicate effectively.
  6. Demonstrate academic skills necessary for continued learning.
  7. Pass AMC’s comprehensive exams and their National/State Licensing Exam.
  8. Be prepared to become entry level Massage Therapists with a specialty in Shiatsu.
