Acupuncture and Massage College was founded in 1983 under the name of the Acupressure Acupuncture Institute. In 1987, AMC established its first massage school as part of its diploma programs. As we developed the Massage Therapy program for our massage school we asked ourselves a few questions. Our first question was:

What courses are now being offered by the existing massage schools?

Massage Schools in Florida

In 1987, there were approximately 15 massage schools in the State of Florida. Today, there are over 50 licensed massages schools in our state. The vocational schools discovered that there was a high demand for the study of massage therapy, so many vocational schools made the change over to either Massage Therapy programs or bought out an existing massage school.

What new and unique programs can we offer in our new massage school?

Our School of Massage Japanese Shiatsu

At our massage school, we aim to provide you with an integration of both Eastern and Western massage therapy practice. We train students to excel in the art and science of massage therapy. Our course has over 120 hours of Japanese Shiatsu; very few massage schools offer Japanese Shiatsu.

We are seeking professionally minded people who want to be the best and are ready to make a prosperous career in health care.

We are sure you had no idea there were so many massage schools to choose from. Your first question must be:

Which massage school is best for me?

You should know that not all massage schools are for you. There are many massage schools that have popped up just to grab for your dollars. We would not recommend these kinds of schools.

Other massage schools have been around for over 20 years that offer Massage Therapy programs with excellent academic and clinical components. We highly recommend these schools.

What is it that I am looking for in a school of massage?

When looking at massage schools for your studies, you should choose a school that is reputable and has been around for twenty years or more. A school that offers something for you to be a unique massage therapist. A school that offers a solid education in both Eastern and Western modalities.

Massage Therapy Studies at AMC

Our massage school will provide you with a solid foundation in the Western biomedical sciences:

• Anatomy and Physiology
• Musculoskeletal Anatomy
• Pathology

The Massage Therapy program offers three modules of bodywork:

• Japanese Shiatsu
• Swedish Massage
• Medical Massage

Japanese Shiatsu

We offer the Hoshino method of Shiatsu. Hoshino therapy is a specialized art form that was introduced to the United States by the late Professor Tometzo Hoshino in 1975.

Swedish Massage

You will also get the opportunity to study and practice Swedish massage, which is the mainstay of 99.9 percent of all other massage schools. Swedish massage is the specialty of most massage therapists.

Medical Massage

We will also give you additional instructions in Medical massage techniques. We teach you how to work with symptoms such as: Stress, headaches, insomnia, muscular pain, nerve pain, and more.

Graduates from our massage school go out into the business world with an edge over the other massage school graduates. At our massage school you will develop specialty techniques, which will make you stand out from the crowd.

These three areas of study in massage therapy will enable you to be truly employable. Our graduates are an asset to their place of employment. Being able to perform the basic Swedish massage, Medical massage and being well trained in Shiatsu will give you an edge over the competition.

Facility at Acupuncture and Massage College

Our massage training is conducted at our spacious 7200 square foot facility. Classes are held both day and night so as to be available to those who are early risers and to those who have to continue working while still in massage school.

One of the best features of our massage school is our modular schedule. Most of our classes are scheduled for a one-month period. That means you will never have to study more than one subject at a time. We feel strongly that this is the model of the future in education.
