The psychological and physiological state of individuals experiencing tension headache improves within 24 hours after receiving a 30-minute massage, according to a new University of Granada study.
Tension headaches have an increasing rate of incidence among the population. This disorder causes disabling pain and is usually treated with analgesics that relieve symptoms temporarily. One of the main causes of this type of headache is the presence of trigger points.
A 30-minute massage on cervical myofascial trigger points focuses on areas of tight muscle fibers that can form in the muscles. Trigger point massage improves autonomic nervous system regulation. Massage also enhances your psychological state by reducing the stress and anxiety associated with chronic tension headache.
Individuals with chronic headache report a relief from symptoms within 24 hours after a massage. Massage can reduce the pain caused by trigger points, which improves the general physical state.
Massage treats a wide range of health conditions. Benefits of massage:
• Boosts the immune system.
• Reduces stress.
• Increases flexibility and range of motion.
• Regulates blood pressure.
• Reduces pain and stiffness.

What a great post.
I would like to point out that a Tantric massage also provides a lot of the above benefits and some would say a few additional benefits.
Well done and thanks for the input.

It really is amazing how simple massage and help alleviate many aliments. I’m glad to see that people are more inclined to try other solutions to chronic panic (especially headaches) for relief.
Many reports I’ve read conclude that taking prescription medication for chronic headaches over time actually increase the reoccurance.
I combine trigger point therapy, myofascial release and add aromatherapy. Sometimes just getting the patient to breathe deeply is enough begin breaking the pain cycle.
I really can’t imagine, how this practice should actually work
I never knew this. Thanks for the great tips will consider taking a massage by next month to get rid of my headache problems.
This is true since massage can ease the tension and improve the circulation in our body.
I’m an LMT and it is amazing to see people’s headaches disappear with good bodywork. Acupuncture is awesome too; I really miss my acupuncturist after having moved to Miami from Maui. If anyone wants help with their internet marketing upon graduation, please let me know. I’ll trade internet marketing services for Acupuncture any day!
I recently had some severe neck pain for the first time in my 50+ year life. I used a chiropractor who spent quite a while massaging my neck along with th enormal movenet of joints etc. In fact I had had a mild headche on and off for 30 years which has now gone completely. It was knotted muscles at the base of my skull and now all relaxed and healthy. I will be relying on massage more na dmore beacuse it works.
I wish I had known about this years ago!
