Acne is caused by imbalanced energies and toxins in the body, which build up and lead to facial acne. According to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), acne is caused by an imbalance in yin and yang energy.
Deficient yin energy can result in excess heat in the body, while deficient yang energy can result in a deficiency of heat. Both types of pathogenic heat cause either too much heat or dampness which results in acne.
The majority of teenagers experience acne due to hormonal changes or stressed emotions, which increases yang energy and manifests as an excess heat syndrome. This excess heat causes skin inflammation and acne. Poor nutrition can also exacerbate acne.
TCM treats acne with a combination of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. Often, an external facial wash or cream is recommended.
Acne can be reduced by avoiding:
• Fried and oily foods, coffee and sugar
• smoking
• stress
• makeup
• washing with a chemically-based soap
Acupuncture & Massage College’s Community Clinic can treat acne by using acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine to clear inflammation and to treat the dampness or heat. Chinese herbs contain anti-bacterial properties and can aid in treating the individual’s specific skin condition. Your acupuncture physician may recommend dietary modifications. Improvements usually occur by the third week of treatment, with a reduction in acne.

Very interesting article I love your site keep up the amazing posts
Thx for sharing
I stumbled upon your weblog on yahoo while researching pimple treatments. I keep trying various goods in hopes to find some thing that will get the job done. Up to now, I haven’t really had a lot of success. Perhaps I am going to give this a try. Will you be updating this website regularly?
Have you yourself experienced this kind of acne treatment? I’m interested in this alternative approach to acne treatment because my daughter has been suffering from rather severce acne for several years now and regular therapy options did not lead to very good results. So I’m always looking for possibly more helpful treatment options.
I have had acupuncture for a lot of different things but it was never recommended to me for acne. I am going to make an appointment and go in for a session to target my acne. Thanks for the heads up.
Yes acne is a matter of balance in many cases. Acupuncture for acne is not commonly thought of. Thanks for the interesting post.
This is an interesting article, I had never thought of the imbalance of Yin and Yang causing excessive heat syndrome resulting in acne. Teenage acne has always been considered to be predominately caused by the influx of hormones at the onset of puberty but I agree that diet can also be a huge factor. Recently I have had great success in altering my teenage daughters diet to include more fresh foods, unprocessed foods and drinking plenty of water. The difference is dramatic and I would recommend others to look at diet and natural Chinese medicines before resorting to harsh prescription drugs to treat the symptoms of acne.
While I was living in Seattle I tried accupuncture, herbal medicines and dietary changes to control my acne. It took around 10 sessions to control my acne but finally it was only appearing sporadically. I can say for sure that this kind of treatment is great to control hormonal disbalances and bring some equilibrium to our body. I currently live in Arizona and I will be more than happy to advertise any contacts you might have in this state as an alternative solution to medicines and dermatologic treatments.
I have had acne for 4 weeks currently. Great read, but can you Afternoon about how to stop acne
Very interesting article. From what I’ve come across, I can say that acne is caused by an imbalance in the system but this is the first time I’ve seen it in the context of the “ying” and “yang.” Keep up the good work!
Thanks for providing a valuable and effective service. I have always found acupuncture to be effective in treating many of life’s illnesses including treating acne and relaxation.
I have always been a long believer in natural remedies and tend to steer away from drugs where possible.
Thank you, I have recently been hunting for info about this topic for ages and yours is the best I’ve found so far.
I read about Acupuncture and i was surprised about this kind of acne treatment. I had never thought of Yin and Yang energy. It sounds very interesting. I have had experience of reducing acne by avoiding fried and oily foods, coffee, stress.I ate a lot of fruits and vegetables and drank a lot of tea. It much helps in reducing acne.
