About Acupuncture & Massage College
Welcome to Acupuncture & Massage College!
Founded in 1983 as the Acupressure-Acupuncture Institute, the College has maintained the same ownership since its inception. Acupuncture & Massage Colleges history reflects its growth within the community, as changes have been made to academic programs that result in a challenging and comprehensive education for students.
With the changing requirements for certification and licensure in the United States, a formal graduate Master of Oriental Medicine Degree Program was developed and accredited. Curriculum main components were designed to include: Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Tui-Na, Chinese Herbology, and Western Science. An overview of acupuncture practice, from medical acupuncture to current acupuncture research to Five Element theory provides a knowledge base for students in their in-depth study of acupuncture.
In 1987, Acupuncture & Massage College established a six-month Massage Therapy program. Since January 2000, the program has expanded its curriculum, with 80% of classes teaching Shiatsu treatment. In August of 2003, the program was lengthened to 607 hours, to add classes in Aromatherapy and increased hours in Practice Management and Supervised Clinic. Students may opt to supplement their classroom learning with massage videos, which serve as visual guides to massage techniques.
The College is proud of its heritage and its current status as a leading institute of health and Chinese Medicine. The academic programs integrate the methodologies of East and West for both curative and preventative health care practices. Acupuncture & Massage College strives to prepare the foundation for graduates to establish a professional career and contribution to community.
